Description
The Bactigras dressing is a sterile medicated Tulle-Gras dressing made with Leno Weave Gauze, White Soft Paraffin, and 0.5 percent Chlorhexidine Acetate. This bactigras dressing is effective against a wide range of bacteria (both gramme positive and gramme negative) due to chlorhexidine acetate. This dressing is used for prevention of infection in skin loss lesions. The Bactigras antiseptic dressing is available in the size of 10 cm X 10 cm.
Bactigras dressing use:
- Smith & Nephew Bactigras antiseptic dressing is used for minor burns and scalds, lacerations, abrasions and other skin loss wounds.
- For Donor and recipient graft sites these Bactigras dressing can be used.
- Where the wound is no more than 10% of the body area.
- This Bactigras dressing can be used for where is a risk of infection.
- On already infected wounds with systemic antibiotics.
- Smith & Nephew bactigras wound dressing can be used on both Adults & Children and the frequency of application will depend upon the clinical circumstances.

Instructions for using bactigras wound dressing:
- Select the correct size dressing and peel open the pouch or tear end from the roll pack.
- Using gloves and forceps, remove protector papers.
- Lay over the wound in a single layer in direct contact with the wound surface.
- Apply a secondary absorbent dressing if required and secure in place with a dressing retention bandage or dressing fixation sheet.
How to remove bactigras dressing :
- BACTIGRAS may be left in place when the absorbent secondary dressing is changed.
- The frequency of changing will depend on the clinical circumstances and this can vary from more than once a day to twice per week.
- If the dressing sticks, soak it off gently with sterile saline solution.
Precautions for bactigras dressing :
- Bactigras Dressing should not be used if the pack's seal is broken.
- Bactigras Dressing should be applied directly to the wound surface under sterile conditions using forceps.
- Bactigras Dressing should be stored under controlled room temperature (<25 degrees Centigrade).
